Why Applications Manager Requires Oracle Client to be installed?
OS: Unix, Linux, WIN
Version: 9. x
One will need to install an Oracle Client on the Applications Manager master server if the database is remote. It is recommended to install the full client. It has been observed that some customers use the instant client but that can cause issues if certain components are not installed such as sqlplus, which is needed when installing Applications Manager.
Applications Manager does necessarily have a Client version requirement as long as it can connect to the Oracle Server version. It is recommended to refer to the Oracle support site to find out which versions can be used. Applications Manager mainly uses sqlplus and JDBC connections so during the installation process, it will request the location of the Oracle client's ojdc*.jar. It is recommended to use ojdb8.jar.
