Z/OS Agent in version V21.0.4 HF1 abend S422 - S0C4

Issue/Introduction

Customer his running the Z/OS Agent 21.0.4 HF1.
Since this update was done he runs now occasionally into a new problem. 
The STC starting the agents frequently ends with a S422 - SOC4 abends.
This problem did not exist in version 21.0.3

For the problem seems to be related to file transfer jobs, the last RUNID in the Agent log before the crash is a JOBF actually.

The problem occurs rarely maybe every 10 days. when a huge File transfer activity takes place
For example multiple parallel running FT of big files from Z/OS Agent to Linux Agents
Linux Agents are in version 21.0.3

 

Environment

Release : 21.0.4 HF1 of the Z/OS Agent

Cause

This is a defect, for now R&D is working on it and fix will be provided in a near version of the Z/OS Agent.

The definitve root cause will be communicated in this article once the bug will be fixed.

Resolution

Workaround:

Do a rollback of the Z/OS agent to version 21.0.3.

 

Solution :

Wait the release of the Z/OS that will contain the fix and implement it.
