Issue/Introduction

I'm working on upgrading our IDM servers from 14.3 CP2 (standalone) to 14.4 and have a question about the proper sequence needed to get to the latest level of IDM 14.4. What is the relationship between the Cumulative Patches and Cumulative Hotfixes? What's the install sequence? Do I go by the release dates? For example, should I follow this sequence using the release date for each component? Or do the newer CPs and/or Cumulative Hotfixes replace the older versions?

1. 14.4 GA

2. 14.4 Cumulative Patch 1 11/16/21

3. 14.4 Cumulative Hotfix 1 2/4/22

4. 14.4 Cumulative Hotfix 2 4/26/22

5. 14.4 Cumulative Patch 2 11/29/22

Is this the right sequence? Are all of these steps needed to get to the latest level?

Environment

Release : 14.4

Resolution

The correct sequence for upgrading from 14.3 CP2 is to apply...

1. 14.4 GA

2. Then apply 14.4 Cumulative Patch 2 (11/29/22).

That's all that's needed to get to the latest (14.4 CP2).

GA is the initial, main general availability of a new release.

CPs are large cumulative patches with enhancements and fixes.

Cumulative Hotfixes (CHFs) are all available hotfixes (and enhancements) since the last CP.
