Issue/Introduction

VSECMD does not work on any VSE that is running CA FAQS ASO for z/VSE.

Cause

FAQs has a similar utility called SMSG, both VSECMD and SMSG cannot be active at the same time.

Example: SMSG vsename OP command

Resolution

To use IBM's VSECMD.

FAQS ASO must be using the FAQSIUX interface.

Step 1. From the FAQS main menu, choose option 4. (AO Automated System Operation Menu Panels)
Step 2. Next option I. (Initialization and Configuration)
Step 3. Then option G. ( GSFAQS Startup Definitions)
Step 4. Select the startup file you are using for this VSE. (name listed in the EXEC GSFAQS job)
Step 5. Remove the 'X' from Enable SMSG Hook and Allow SMSG OP commands.

NOTE: An IPL is required for this to take effect.
