Flood of ICMP ping requests caused gateway availability issues

Issue/Introduction

There were an excessive amount of ICMP pings to our gateways and it caused issues.  The fix was to increase the rate limit ping in the iptables configuration file to 50/second.

Does Broadcom have some recommended settings for this rate limit? Are there any concerns/considerations for setting it to this value?

API Gateway: 10.0+

Resolution

Broadcom doesn't have any recommended settings for this value. If applicable, it should be tuned to fit your environment's needs.
