Issue/Introduction

Using SYSVIEW and the options to access to SYSVIEW interfaces are open to all users. How to restrict it only to the system programmers.

Environment

SYSVIEW 15.0 & 16.0 & 17.0 - z/OS supported releases -

Resolution

If using SYSVIEW internal security, the easiest way to accomplish this is to modify the 'Miscellaneous Section' of the DEFAULT User Group and set 'Interfaces' to the ones that are allowed for users for example TSO or VTAM if you set it to NONE then users wouldn't be able to logon at all. Then create a separate User Group (maybe call it SYSPROGS) that contains the IDs of all the SYSPROGs in the 'User Ids Section' that should have access. The SYSPROGS group could be created by copying DEFAULT, just make sure the 'Interfaces' is set back to ALL in the Miscellaneous Section.
