Can Spectrum discover devices using short hostname or FQDN?

Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to discover the host name specified by FQDN in Spectrum?

If the IP address to be monitored changes, is it possible to continue monitoring as the same host without rediscovering it?

Will the IP of the host be updated if discovery is performed again after the IP address of the monitoring target has changed?

Environment

DX NetOps Spectrum Release 20.2. or later

Resolution

Yes, you can use FQDN in discovery. However, if the IP address changes, you will need to update the Network_Address attribute of the device model as this will not be automatically changed by Spectrum.
