Issue/Introduction

When schedule a PDF report, and select the information scope as All Pages of multiple page views - selected to include a link in the email to a PDF of the full-page report - the PDF report output might include empty charts appended to the report.

For example, create a View for "Top Interface Utilization - Multi-Trend (Trend) - Out", with Number of Charts on Page = 15 and Maximum Number of Charts = 60:

Result of this report is that the first 4 pages in the PDF output contains correct data, but there are a few pages with empty charts added at end of the report.

For example, starting from the 5th page up to page 32:

Environment

Release : 21.2.x up to 22.2.3

Cause

The maximum number of charts for Multi-View report with PDF created a full set of charts, and with Multi-Trend it lead to empty charts added on to PDF report.
The maximum number of charts on the Portal UI for Multi-Trend is maximum trend lines, but with PDF it is processed as number of charts like for Multi-View.

Resolution

This bug is fixed in Performance Management 22.2.4 as per Defect DE549956:

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/it-operations-management/performance-management/22-2/release-notes/fixed-issues.html

-Symptom:
When you have scheduled a PDF report, and you have selected the information scope as All Pages of multiple page views  (you have selected to include a link in the email to a PDF of the full-page report), the PDF might include empty charts appended to the report.
-Resolution:
With this fix, the PDFs no longer contain empty charts appended to the report.

For Performance Management 21.2.x up to 22.2.3, the following workaround can be used.

Use the equivalent reports that are found under the 'Operations Displays' menu on page 'Interface Trends', that contain 3 variant of the out of the box Views, which can be easily configured with 'IM Device Multi-Trend (Top)' view:

1. Multi-Trend Interface Utilization
2. Top Interface Discards - Multi-Trend (Trend)
3. Top Interface Errors - Multi-Trend (Trend)

The view 'IM Device Multi-Trend (Top)' when scheduled with the All Pages PDF option does not have the extraneous empty charts appended to the rendered PDF emailed report.

For example, below is an equivalent configured  'IM Device Multi-Trend (Top)' for Multi-Trend Interface Utilization; only difference is selecting the metric 'Utilization In' as opposed to "In" or "Out" as combo box pull down list:
