Issue/Introduction

Upgrading from SYSVIEW 15.0 to  SYSVIEW 16.0 with CICS/TS 5.5.

The SYSVIEW CICS CSD definitions in use are those which came with the SYSVIEW 15.0 version.

Wanting to upgrade to SYSVIEW 16.0 without stopping/starting the CICS regions.

Is it possible to do this?

Environment

SYSVIEW 15.0 & 16.0 & 17.0 - z/OS supported releases -

Resolution

The CICS CSD definitions didn't change between SYSVIEW 15.0 and 16.0.

The following HOLDDATA is typically used for PTFs, and should also work for an upgrade:

1. Apply the PTF.
2. Stop any CICS regions being monitored by SYSVIEW, or use the GSVT
(terminate) transaction to stop SYSVIEW for CICS within each region.
3. Stop the SYSVIEW STCs, GSSA, and any user sessions.
4. Deploy the PTF to your run-time libraries.
5. Start the SYSVIEW STCs, GSSA, and any user sessions.
6. Perform a CICS NEWCOPY for program GSVCGSVS within each region if
the CICS regions were not stopped.
7. Start any CICS regions being monitored by SYSVIEW, or use the GSVS
(start) transaction to start SYSVIEW for CICS within each region.
