How does proxy categorization been done for embedded URL that gets redirected?

Issue/Introduction

An example of redirection URL:

https://clicktime.symantec.com/3FgYjKVDxUvJphGogFZV59H7GS?u=https://teams.microsoft.com

This only affect URL that gets redirected by the main domain "clicktime.symantec.com".

The embedded URL that gets redirected to in the example above is "teams.microsoft.com".

Cause

The category lookup will be done on the embedded URL which is "teams.microsoft.com" and not the main domain "clicktime.symantec.com".

Proxy will do a category lookup for the URL after the "u=" string in the URL query path.

Resolution

This is an expected behavior or by design in order to categorize the actual URL that the user gets redirected to.

The change was pushed to the local content filter database on the 29th November 2022.
