A certificate that can only be used as an end-entity is being used as a CA or vice versa (0x800B0103)

Issue/Introduction

Endpoints cannot connect to Site Servers and Site Servers cannot connect to themselves. The following error appears in the agent logs:

"Could not access own HTTPS Web site 'https://ServerName.DomainName.com:443/Altiris/PS/ConnectionTest.html', HTTPS requests from clients can fail, error: A certificate that can only be used as an end-entity is being used as a CA or vice versa (0x800B0103)"

 

Environment

Release: IT Management Suite (ITMS) 8.x

Cause

The Site Server certificate path was incorrect.

Resolution

The customer recreated the Site Server certificates with the corrected Certificate Path. This fixed all communication.
