Allocate DASD Space and Placement

Issue/Introduction

When running the following TSO command :

ALLOC FI(SYSUT2) DA(‘SYSTEM.B’)  NEW CATALOG UNIT(VTS)

the allocation can’t be done and the following messages are displayed:

ALLOC FI(SYSUT2) DA('SYSTEME.BKP.S5') NEW CATALOG UNIT(VTS)
 DATA SET SYSTEME.BKP.S5 NOT ALLOCATED, VOLUME NOT AVAILABLE+
 VOLUME  NECESSARY TO SATISFY YOUR REQUEST NOT ON SYSTEM, AND CANNOT BE MOUNTED

The tape mount is archived.

  • the ALLOCxx member form the SYS1.PARMLIB.The ALLOCxx member can influence dynamic allocations, of which the “ALLOC FI(SYSUT2) DA('SYSTEME.BKP.S5') NEW CATALOG UNIT(VTS)” under TSO is.
