Issue/Introduction

There have been several requests to know if DLP supports Oracle Exadata.

Environment

Release : All

Cause

Oracle Exadata is not listed as a supported database in the DLP System Requirements guide.

Resolution

Symantec DLP supports Oracle Exadata at the SCHEMA LEVEL

This means –

  • If the reported issue is a known Symantec DLP bug, Broadcom will provide support based on our existing support process, otherwise
  • If the Customer’s issue is determined to be in the DLP schema, Broadcom will provide schema level support for that DLP issue. Otherwise, the Customer should leverage their own Oracle expertise as well as their own Oracle support contracts to resolve the database issue.

For Exadata in general -

  • The Customer should be running a version of Oracle Database supported by DLP as specified in the latest System Requirements: Oracle database requirements (broadcom.com).
  • The Customer is responsible for the setup and configuration of Oracle Exadata to be available to connect to the Oracle database from the Enforce Server via Oracle supported interfaces used by DLP to access the database (ex. OJDBC, OCI, SQLPlus).
  • The Customer should leverage their own Oracle expertise as well as their own Oracle support contracts to resolve database maintenance and infrastructure related issues.
  • Symantec DLP Documentation and troubleshooting is for Oracle Standard Edition, not specific to Oracle Exadata. The Customer is responsible for translating those instructions to how to do the same via the Oracle Database edition the Customer is using.
