A SAREAS started task abended with the below code:

ERROR DURING GETMAIN SYS CODE = 878-08 SAREASC SAREASC 00

 

Environment

Release : 14.0

Resolution

The View SAREAS task received the S878-08 condition due to being a victim of system CSA exhaustion that occurred. 

There was no free CSA storage available at that point it was needed by the system to perform the deallocation request for the tape.

Hence, the reason for the termination of SAREAS task.

To prevent this in the future, the amount of free CSA storage available on the system should be increased.
