Issue/Introduction

uim/nimsoft controller keeps crashing after upgrading robot to version 9.33 on redhat enterprise 7.7.

We see the following error in /var/log/message:

kernel: controller[9859]: segfault at 7ffd4e3d6000 ip 00007f0d13f1eaa0 sp 00007ffd4e3d1e88 error 7 in libc-2.17.so[7f0d13e8f000+1c4000]

Environment

  • Release: 20.3
  • Robot 9.33
  • OS: RedHat Linux (RHEL) 7.7

Resolution

  • The customer uninstalled robot v9.36 and cleaned up the directory, e.g., /opt/nimsoft.
  • The 9.36 robot was installed using nimsoft-robot.x86_64.rpm and RobotConfigurer.sh since it has systemctl scripts needed on RHEL v7.x.
  • Robot 9.36 installation was successful, controller, hdb and spooler were running and had ports and PIDs, and no further segfaults were seen in /var/log/messages.
