Issue/Introduction

Error: [INS-35950] Installer has detected an invalid entry in the central inventory corresponding to Oracle home (<DRIVE>:\oracle\product\19.3.0.0\db_1)

When installing Oracle 19c on Windows Server, the above error is seen when running the command as "admin" in the command prompt:

"<DRIVE>:\oracle\product\19.3.0.0\db_1\setup.exe -noconfig -responseFile <DRIVE>:\temp\Oracle\tools\responsefiles\singleinstance\Oracle_19.3.0.0_Enterprise_Edition_Installation_WIN.rsp""

Cause

INS-35950 error you were experiencing was due to a likely corrupted xml file located at <DRIVE>:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\ContentsXML

Resolution

Follow the below steps and validate the behavior - 

Step1: Delete the entire Oracle directory and then the Inventory location as well.

Step 2: Unzip the Oracle and re-run the setup again.

Result: Oracle installation should be completed.
