Issue/Introduction

You would like to determine if you need to upgrade DLP Endpoint agents in waves to minimize network traffic load and are trying to determine what happens with the EMDI profile when DLP Endpoint agents are upgraded. Do the agents continue to use the existing table set they already have, or is a new set is requested? If a new set is requested, is it a delta or full download? You would like to determine if you need to upgrade the agents in waves to minimize network traffic load.

Resolution

When an agent in-place upgrade is performed, using the upgrade_agent.bat, the existing agent database files are backed up, the new binaries are installed, then the agent database files are restored. This process should not cause anything to be downloaded to the agent.
