Unable to load certificate reference for the NS root certificate: Certificate details not found

Issue/Introduction

After migrating to a new SMP Server, the following error was noticed in the SMP Console under Settings>All Settings>Notification Server>Certificate Management:

NS root certificate
Certificate details not found

Environment

ITMS 8.6, 8.7

Cause

Wrong reference for the Agent CA certificate or missing regkey.

Resolution

Note: Before attempting the steps suggested below, try to reboot the affected SMP Server and see if that helps resolve this issue.

Check the following:

1. Check that the following "Thumbprint" regkey exists under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\eXpress\Notification Server\CA\Agent]
2. If it exists, check that it has the right thumbprint for the Agent CA certificate. If it has the wrong value, add the right one.
3. If it doesn't exist, recreate the regkey and add the proper thumbprint reference for your Agent CA certificate.

4. Restart Altiris Service.
