Issue/Introduction

macOS Ventura 13.1 has a defect whereby the Network wizard continues to pop up even though the Network profiles are already in place. This has nothing to do with the Network profile and is due to a macOS defect with the Endpoint Security API. If there is an issue with the Endpoint Security API's FDA Symantec System Extension, then the Network wizard might also pop up, which might be confusing as the two are not related. This is detailed here https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-13_1-release-notes

Environment

macOS Ventura 13.1

SEP Client (multiple versions)

Cause

This can be reproduced by disabling FDA for Symantec System Extension from System Settings on macOS Ventura 13.1. It would be expected for the FDA setup wizard to begin if there was an issue, but the NetworkExtension setup wizard will also appear, regardless of the profiles. There are no known causes of this symptom other than manually disabling FDA at the time of writing.

Resolution

Reapply the FDA extension
