Issue/Introduction

We are trying to monitor the local Google Drive client through the endpoint agent. The agent isn't detecting the transfer of text files from the local PC to the Google Drive client. We can detect via web upload but transfers on the machine seem to not work.

Environment

Release: 15.8 MP3

Cause

By default the Google Drive application uses the "Stream files" method, which chunks the data, this is not supported as the DLP cannot always monitor it correctly.

Please see page 4 of the 15.8MP3 release notes which explains this limitation.

Resolution

You can change the behavior of the Google Drive application by right-clicking on the Google Drive Tray Icon then selecting the settings cog wheel, and preferences.

In the preferences dialog box Select Google Drive "Folders from Drive" and select Mirror files.
