Issue/Introduction

We are noticing that a report which has DRETPD=1, stays on Disk for 2 days.

Is there any reason behind this?

We are thinking to make DRETPD=0 for all the reports, so that we can see only one copy on disk layer after the backup.

Is there any impact of keeping DRETPD=0 ?

Will the disk copy will be deleted only after it is copied to tape?

Is there any dependency of backup timing in this case?

Resolution

With View's ERO:

. A setting of DRETPD=0 will cause the report to be expired from the disk layer at the next View standard backup.

. With a setting of DRETPD=1, the report is kept on the disk layer from 1.00 - 1.99 days, depending on the timing of the backup.

. The same would be true with DRETPD=n (where n > 0), where the report is kept on the disk layer from n.00 - n.99 days, again depending on the timing of the backup.
