Issue/Introduction

We want to integrate DevTest with LDAP. Before we proceed with integration, need to clarify below questions.

  1. What are the limitations if we integrate IAM with LDAP ?
  2. We have to give specific access to a specific user, in case of LDAP integration, how we will be able to control user role?
  3. We have a limited license number, in case of LDAP integration, how system will control/behave if number of users who login are very high?
  4. Most of the users needs to access service catalog only, in case of LDAP integration how we will enable Catalog for everyone?

Environment

All supported DevTest releases.

Resolution

  1. What are the limitations if we integrate IAM with LDAP ?

Ans:   Limitation is, users from LDAP that you have added can only login to DevTest components. Other users out side of LDAP can not access DevTest.

  1. We have to give specific access to a specific user, in case of LDAP integration, how we will be able to control user role?

Ans:   You can manage user access from IAM console. Assign the roles to users according to the permissions they need.

  1. We have a limited license number, in case of LDAP integration, how system will control/behave if number of users who login are very high?

Ans:   There is no limitation of license. So, all your LDAP users can access DevTest components without any limitations.

  1. Most of the users needs to access service catalog only, in case of LDAP integration how we will enable Catalog for everyone?

Ans:   You can provide default role for user as "Virtual Service Catalog" in LDAP configuration so that all new users will be given access with only VS Catalog access.
