Monitor Memory and CPU on Netscout devices

Issue/Introduction


We have discovered the Netscout devices into Spectrum with SNMPv2, but we are not finding any performance data (CPU, Memory) in the Spectrum. Below are the OIDs for the devices

1.3.6.1.4.1.21671 

1.3.6.1.4.1.141.1.1.9807

1.3.6.1.4.1.141.1.1.4795

Environment

Cause


These models have not yet been certified by Spectrum.

Resolution


Using NRM Attribute Redirection we were able to monitor Memory and CPU monitoring


CPU and Memory metrics were available via the NTCT-PFS-HEALTH-MIB Mib

 

Using Mib Tools

   - Compile and Load the NTCT-PFS-HEALTH-MIB Mib

 

 

 


   - Map the following OIDs to Spectrum Attributes (taking note of the attribute handles generated)

      nphMemoryIndex
      nphMemoryTotal
      nphMemoryFree
      nphCPUIndex
      nphCPUTotal

 


NOTE: The assigned attributes on your system will vary from those in the screenshot as it takes the next available attribute ID's
   when mapping. So the attribute handles on your system will be different than the screenshots above.


  - On the Device model, select the 'Attributes' Tab and move these attributes to the right side

- Select the following attributes and click edit (paper and pencil icon)

NRM_CPUUtilAttr     (0x12e2d) --> nphCpuTotal attribute handle
NRM_CPUUtilNameAttr (0x12e2e) --> nphCpuIndex attribute handle
NRM_MemoryFreeAttr  (0x12e38) --> nphMemoryFree attribute handle
NRM_MemoryTotalAttr (0x12e39) --> nphMemoryTotal attribute handle

 

 


- Reconfigure the device



- Verify CPU and Memory now show under the 'Performance' Tab and can have thresholds set via
     the "Thresholds and Watches' view
