How does the Password History Count work in Clarity PPM?

This document only applies to non Single Sign On environments

Resolution

As an Administrator you are able to reset user's password. The count figure, is the number of consecutive unique passwords allowed before a password can be reused when it is changed by the user.

The first time the password is set; it is set by the Administrator User [admin] to a value (such as lowercase letter 'c'). This does not 'count' in the history. The history starts increasing when the user changes the password for first time.

Example:

If count is set at 1

Password User Change
c Admin Allowed -- count is NOT incremented
d User Allowed -- count + 1 for letter 'd'
c User Allowed -- count + 1 for letter 'c' -- allowed as there is no
history kept when the Admin
1 st set the password
d User Not Allowed -- count + 1 for letter 'c'
c User Not Allowed -- count + 1 for letter 'd'
c Admin Allowed -- count is NOT incremented
d Admin Allowed -- count is NOT incremented
