Clarity PPM SaaS Clarity PPM On Premise

Issue/Introduction

Description:

What operation characteristics of the service may change, in addition to the time displayed or recorded. For example, will any software get confused by the sudden time change and fail to provide the expected service?

Environment

Release: All supported releases
Component: Clarity On Premise

Resolution

Solution:

SERVER: The CA PPM Application utilizes the system clock and timezone information of the server on which the Application server is running on. As long as the time on this server is correct, the application is not affected by Daylight Saving changes. This time will be also used in the log files.

CLIENT: When a user is logged onto the CA PPM Server, the time displayed on the application, for example, when looking at when reports and jobs have been run is determined by two factors:

  1. The time and timezone on the Application Server
  2. The "Timezone" on the "Account settings" menu for the user currently logged in is used to offset the time from the Application Server.

For example, if the CA PPM Application Server is 1:00 PM and the timezone is GMT, and the user logged in has (GMT+1) set as his timezone, the time shown to the user is 2:00 PM.

As a precaution, it is suggested that any jobs scheduled to take place during the period where daylight saving time is implemented (between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM depending on whether DST is starting or ending) are rescheduled.
