When an acid is given ACCESS(CONTROL) on a Top Secret permit, what kind of access does it allow?

Resolution

Control is specific for VSAM datasets and will allow the dataset to be opened for control interval processing, such as an IDCAMS function.

As part of the process of opening the dataset for CONTROL processing, the user could read, or write to the dataset. However, CONTROL access does NOT imply that they can open the dataset for READ or WRITE access initially. If a user is given ACCESS(CONTROL) and the requested access is for READ, the user will fail. The user will only be granted access if the requested access is specifically for CONTROL access.
