Altiris process is consuming lot of memory and crashing the system

Issue/Introduction

Altiris process is consuming lot of memory and crashing the system. This issue is keep happening on many servers every day. 

As temporary we stop and start the Symantec management service which clears the memory.

 

Environment

Release: 8.x

Cause

Application Metering plug-in was installed on these servers. The Application Metering plug-in by default is not targeted nor is intended for use on server operating systems due to the functions of the plug-in. 

Resolution

We verified the Application Metering plug-in installation policy was not targeting Server operating systems, and we enabled the uninstall policy after targeting all servers.
