Altiris process is consuming lot of memory and crashing the system

Issue/Introduction

The Altiris process is consuming lot of memory and crashing the system and tis issue keeps happening on many servers every day. 

As a temporary workaround we stop and start the Symantec Management service which clears the memory.

Cause

The Application Metering plug-in was installed on these servers. The Application Metering plug-in by default is not targeted nor is intended for use on server operating systems due to the functions of the plug-in. 

Resolution

Verify that the Application Metering plug-in installation policy is not targeting Server operating systems, and enabled the uninstall policy after targeting all servers.
