Issue/Introduction

We would like clarification regarding the Java JRE/JDK Packages on RHEL servers hosting Oracle Database. Is a JRE/JDK actually required on a Linux servers that host an Oracle Database or can/may we technically uninstall JRE/JDK from RHEL?

Resolution

The DLP application itself does not require the installation of a JRE/JDK on the Oracle server and the JRE version requirements we have are specified for the Enforce and/or Detection servers. The core Oracle database application does NOT require any JRE/JDK installation however there may be a requirement for this for some of the ancillary database maintenance and administration tools.

The recommendation here is to confirm directly with Oracle support if they have any JRE dependencies for Oracle 19c.
