Spool - Web Error PEPE from command interface

Issue/Introduction

Just noticed today that CA-Spool Web is giving us the error below on one of our systems:

  Error: PEPE FROM COMMAND INTERFACE.

The same setup works on our test system. Many IPLs have been done, and the problem remains.

Our test system is currently running on z/OS 2.5 whereas our Prod system where we have the issue is z/OS 2.4. Could that be the issue?

Would copying the zFS file from the test system to Prod fix the issue? If so, are there any other changes we would have to do?

Resolution

In Spool, under the "Files" and "All Files", the client receives:

 . PE FROM COMMAND INTERFACE

Under the Printers tab, they receive:

. PEPE FROM COMMAND INTERFACE

Under the Commands tab, they receive:

. ESFCOMI OPEN failed. Status code: PEPE

It was recommended that the client upgrade the Spool maintenance to 14.0.03:

 . LU02067 CONTINUOUS DELIVERY LEVEL SET 14.0.03

This level includes the modernization of the Web interface given by the PTF below:

 . LU01013 CA SPOOL WEB INTERFACE MODERNIZATION

It was also suggested that the client have PTF LU06281 applied.

The client applied the maintenance and PTFs, and in the process of testing, they found that the issue seemed to be with their zFS file, and that they would restore what is known to be a working z/FS file.
