Issue/Introduction

You find that after enabling the SEP firewall on the RU6 Mac Client, the Continuity Camera app stops working.

Environment

SEP Mac client RU6

Cause

Continuity apps from Apple are generally supported where they use consistent ports. However the Continuity camera uses a random port in a range. Given the port is not known and the Firewall is blocking ports, the camera app will stop working when the Firewall is activated.

Resolution

MacOS Continuity Camera needs a random high TCP port between 40,000 and 65,535. It is not possible to suggest a sensible rule that covers such a blanket range. Various Apple features are not designed for corporate or locked-down usage.
