By default the Software Delivery download method on all agents is 'Internal - NOS'
which means the agent connects to the SDLIBRARY$ share on the agent's Scalability
Server, when a package is being installed on the agent.
Note: For 'Internal - NOS' delivery, the Library on the agent's Scalability Server should
be shared as SDLIBRARY$ using the command:
sd_sscmd addshare SDLIBRARY.
This document details how to change the default software delivery download method
from Internal - NOS to NOSLESS using the various methods to do so.
The default transfer method of Internal - NOS works fine in most environments but
in the case of a secure network it may become necessary to change the transfer of
packages from using Internal NOS to NOSLESS due to the fact that network shares
may be disabled and not allowed to be enabled.
If the NOSLESS is used you must make sure that you have enough drive space
as it requires up to 4 times the size of the package due to how it is copied and
uncompressed on the target machines.
NOTE: If you do not want to use the shared library access method, the following
procedure can be used to configure the default delivery method from 'Internal - NOS'
to 'NOSLESS' (where the package is compressed and sent to the agent).
CA Client Automation - All Versions
In the DSM Explorer drill down to Computers and Users->All Computers.
Right-click the desired computer and select Software Jobs->Download Method->
Note: If you want to change the download method on multiple computers then
select the computers in the right-pane, Right-click then and select Software Jobs->
Download Method->Internal NOS-less.
The software Delivery download method policy is a locally managed policy and
can be changed directly on the agent using the following command:
ccnfcmda -cmd setparametervalue -ps /itrm/usd/shared -pn nos -v NONE
The agents can also be configured to use the NOSLESS delivery method by
modifying the following policy:
DSM/Software Delivery/Shared/NOS: Network Operation System used.
Note: Modifying this policy will change it to a Centrally Managed policy and the download
method used on the agent can be controlled centrally.
If the download method has to be changed on all agents then modify the
'Default Computer Policy' else create a new policy and distribute it to the desired agents.
