“Non compatible” error during Automation Point patch installation

Issue/Introduction

Trying to install patch 11.17.0.68 to Automation Point, but the setup program fails as it’s not compatible with the installed version.

Cause

Patch for the wrong release. 

Resolution

The error message from the screenshot in the description is correct behavior because patch 11.17.0.68 is for Automation Point release 17.0 but the instance where this happened had Automation Point release 16.0. The correct approach on that situation will first upgrade to release 11.7 base, and after install patch 11.7.0.68.

Additional Information

NOTE: Automation Point patches are cumulative which means that the latest patch contains all changes from prior patches, however, release should be the same one. Another note is that after base installation or patch installation we strongly recommend to restart the machine.
