Issue/Introduction

When starting a RADIUS validation server from the VIP Enterprise Gateway console the following error is displayed.

Resolution

First, verify that the port is not already being used by another validation server. If it is not, use the netstat command-line utility to check if anything else might be using the port.

If the port is not currently bound to another service on the server it is possible that the validation server did not stop completely. This issue can be resolved using the following steps.

  1. Stop the validation server by clicking OFF under the status column in the EG console.
  2. Edit the validation server configuration and change the port to one that is not already in use. 
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Start the validation server by clicking ON under the status.
  5. Stop the validation server.
  6. Edit the configuration and change the port back to the original port.
  7. Start the validation server again.

The validation server should now start again using the original port.
