Issue/Introduction

The logs from Central logs server on vApp is not rotating and becoming a hudge file.

Filename: /opt/CA/VirtualAppliance/centralLogs/vaap_central.log

The configuration is to rotate day-by-day but it is not happening. Also, I can't alter this configuration. Only root can.

The central log is not rotating daily as expected in 14.4.1 CHF2

Configuration:

/opt/CA/VirtualAppliance/logs/*.log {
    size 10M
    rotate 50
    dateext
    dateformat -%Y-%m-%d
    compress
    missingok
    notifempty
    delaycompress
}

/opt/CA/VirtualAppliance/centralLogs/vapp_central.log {
    daily
    rotate 365
    dateext
    dateformat -%Y-%m-%d
    compress
    missingok
    notifempty
    delaycompress
}

Environment

Release : 14.4

Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Resolution

The file is being used after rotation.

Once the file has been rotated, it needs a service restart which I have fixed for the upcoming release.
