Issue/Introduction

This document discusses how to stop CA 7 job submission in preparation for a system IPL or other outage.

Resolution

The following are steps to take to quiesce CA 7 job submission:

1. Change the Initialization File (pointed to by the UCC7IN DD statement in the CA 7 online procedure) SCHEDULE statement to add STOPQ=YES prior to IPL or before restarting CA 7.
2. After CA 7 is started issue these top line commands:
   1.  HOLD,Q=REQ
   2. HOLD,Q=RDY
   3. SSCAN,SCAN=HLD   -  will place all jobs that will enter the the queues in a HOLD status
      
      

Then when ready to start job submissions:

1. START,Q=REQ
2. START,Q=RDY
   to get the jobs ready to submit....at this time you can release (post the hold requirement) job by job or isssue:
3. RELEASE,Q=REQ
4. RELEASE,Q=RDY
   
5. SSCAN,SCAN=REL      -    to stop the hold requirement being added to jobs as they enter the queues.
