Definition dates show incorrect date for Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange

Issue/Introduction

When reviewing the virus definitions date on the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE) you note that the definitions are out of date.  Reviewing the lux.log shows no errors and a review of the path the virus definitions are installed to shows the definitions are up today.  Additional review shows that there is a folder called "<SMSMSE_INSTALL_PATH>\Server\definitions\Master\Stargate\bin_bak".

Resolution

1. Stop the SMSMSE service
2. Delete the folder <SMSMSE_INSTALL_FOLDER>\Server\definitions\Master\Stargate\bin_bak
3. Restart the SMSMSE service
