Issue/Introduction
Since our move to the Broadcom organization, Symantec has been streamlining our portfolio and consolidating our offerings to better serve and support customer efforts to protect their organizations.
Therefore, the following products will reach End of Life according to the schedule covered in each section:
Symantec Cloud Workload Protection (CWP)
Symantec Cloud Workload Protection for Storage (CWPS)
Effective May 1, 2022, Symantec officially will begin the End-of-Life (EOL) process for the following products:
Symantec Cloud Workload Protection (CWP)
Symantec Cloud Workload Protection for Storage (CWPS)
Effective July 1, 2022, Symantec officially will begin the End-of-Life (EOL) process for the following products:
Symantec Protection for SharePoint Server (SPSS)
Industrial Control System Protection (ICSP)
Symantec Mail Security for MS Exchange (SMSMSE)
Additionally, Symantec Protection Suite is a bundle SKU that contains Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) and SMSMSE. Since SMSMSE will be retired, that bundle SKU will be terminated. SMG and SEP will continue to be available individually.
Symantec Cloud Workload Protection (CWP)
As of May 1, 2022, CWP will no longer be available for new sales or additional seats.
Existing customers will be able to renew their contracts only until the EOL date of December 31, 2023.
Symantec will be offering Symantec Endpoint Security Complete (SES Complete) as a replacement product with support for asset discovery and antimalware scans for AWS and Azure Cloud*
All active customers will be granted entitlement for SES Complete as replacement SKU for the equivalent quantity and period as CWP Contracts.
Support will end at the EOL date and no extended support will be available after the EOL date.
Any customer data collected will be securely destroyed after the subscription expiration date or EOL date, whichever is earlier.
Symantec Cloud Workload Protection for Storage (CWPS)
As of May 1, 2022, CWPS will no longer be available for new sales or additional seats.
CWPS is a set of cloud connectors that link to Symantec Protection Engine (SPE). Symantec will be migrating those connectors directly into SPE instead of CWPS being a standalone product.
Existing customers will be able to renew their contracts only until EOL date of December 31, 2023.
Support will end at the EOL date and no extended support will be available after the EOL date.
Any customer data collected will be securely destroyed after the subscription expiration date or EOL date, whichever is earlier.
Symantec Protection for SharePoint Server (SPSS)
End of Life for SPSS is September 30, 2026.
All new or renewal contracts must have an end date no later thanSeptember 30, 2026.
There is no equivalent product in the Broadcom portfolio for SharePoint On Prem customers. CloudSOC CASB can be evaluated for customers moving to SharePoint cloud.
Support will end at the EOL date and no extended support will be available after the EOL date.
Any customer data collected will be securely destroyed after the subscription expiration date or EOL date, whichever is earlier.
Symantec Industrial Control System Protection (ICSP)
End of Life for ICSP is December 31, 2024.
As of November 1, 2022, ICSP will no longer be available for new sales.
Existing customers will be able to add capacity only until November 1, 2022 or renew by May 1, 2023.
All new or renewal contracts must have an end date no later than December 31, 2024.
A block of appliances is available for RMA spares to support existing customers.
Existing customers requesting additional devices will be decided on a case by case basis.
There is no equivalent product in the Broadcom portfolio to replace ICSP.
Support will end at the EOL date and no extended support will be available after the EOL date.
Any customer data collected will be securely destroyed after the subscription expiration date or EOL date, whichever is earlier.
Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE)
End of Life for SMSMSE is December 31, 2024.
As of November 1, 2022, SMSMSE will no longer be available for new sales.
Existing customers will be able to renew or add capacity only until October 31, 2023.
All new or renewal contracts must have an end date no later than December 31, 2024.
There is no replacement product available for customers who wish to remain on-prem. However, Microsoft Exchange 2019 reaches End of Life January 1, 2024.
SMSMSE will not support future versions of Exchange (beyond Exchange 2019).
Support will end at the EOL date and no extended support will be available after the EOL date.
Any customer data collected will be securely destroyed after the subscription expiration date or EOL date, whichever is earlier.
Symantec Protection Suite (SPS)
Starting November 1, 2022, SPS will no longer be available for new sales.
Existing customers will be able to renew or add capacity only until October 31, 2023.
All new or renewal contracts must have an end date no later than December 31, 2024.
Existing contracts running through Dec 31, 2024 will not be affected.
Customers renewing after October 31, 2023 will be given SES and SMG separately as stand alone products with individual pricing, they must purchase both by notifying their partner/reseller of their requirements
Support for SEP/SES/CASB/SMG will continue.
Support for SMSMSE will end at the expiration date of the contract or December 31, 2024, whichever comes first. No extended support will be available after the EOL date.

Frequently asked questions
What do customers need to do?
Customers can continue to use all products until their license subscription and support expires or by the EOL date, whichever is earlier.
Customers can continue to use products with a perpetual license past the EOL date, but no content updates will be available.
There will be no support available after the EOL date.
Customers should plan to migrate to replacement solutions before the EOL date.
Why are we discontinuing these products?
We are consolidating our portfolio and focusing our investments on solutions that provide the most value to customers.
Will the products continue to get updates?
Content updates will continue to be available until the EOL date. Security fixes for critical vulnerabilities will be provided as needed. Feature requests and future enhancements will no longer be considered.
