Issue/Introduction

I had to recycle LSERV due to applying PTFs. The command P LSERV was invoked but it seems the LSERV was still UP, then automation sent cancel command. It worked.

Could you check reason why the LSERV was UP even invoked STOP command?

Environment

Release : 15.0

Component : LSERV

Cause

Incorrect command issued also VTAM errors present which may have prevented shutdown.  The missing/incorrect VTAM definitions prevented
the ICMF facility of MIM which was tying to use LSERV to communicate messages and commands back and forth to other systems. Since there are no VTAM ACBs defined, both LSERV and ICMF are currently not functioning on these systems.

Resolution

Rather than a P LSERV the correct command as documented is
F LSERVid, shutdown
Also, correct the incorrect/missing VTAM definitions to allow a successful L-Serv shutdown

Additional Information

LSERV has it's own SHUTDOWN Command as documented under the LSERV Commands listed in the Common Services R15.0 documentation
