Issue/Introduction

We have recently upgrade to IGA 14.4 GA and all complete successfully upgraded but we are having an issue with the remote connector server service starting. The connector server on the Application Server works but the remote JCS/CCS does not start.

The logs show the following when attempting startup:

SEVERE: Failed to start JCS Service as Unlimited Strength Java Cryptography is not detected. JCS requires Java Runtime with "Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength".

Environment

Release : 14.4

Component : IdentityMinder(Identity Manager)

Cause

The 14.4 connector server requires pre-requisite installation of java and the JCE libraries.

Resolution

Download and install the JCE libraries.

Download the "JCE Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files"
The "JCE Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files" are available as a .zip file from :

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Only the version is applicable (ie., the one jce_policy-8.zip applies to both the 32bit and 64bit editions of java 8 ) .

The version of the Jurisdiction file depends on the version of Java you have installed, as per:

  • Java 8 : jce_policy-8.zip
  • Java 7 : UnlimitedJCEPolicyJDK7.zip
  • Java 6 : jce-policy-6.zip
  • etc.
