Issue with scheduled and random report for administrative activity

Issue/Introduction

We have a daily Administrative Activities report scheduled with Yesterday as quick date. For a scheduled report there is no filter to configure, the report always should contain all data. But at one point this stopped and all subsequent reports contained only a small subset of administrative activities.

Environment

Release : Any PAM release as of August 2022

Component : PRIVILEGED ACCESS MANAGEMENT

Cause

Currently (as of August 2022) PAM retains filter conditions in memory. Therefore the next scheduled report can be impacted by a manual report run prior to the scheduled report. The last filter conditions used for a given report will be used in the next scheduled report as well, or the next manual report, even if run by a different user.

Resolution

The workaround is to always run the report without any filter conditions at the end of a session working with the Credentials > Reports > Run page.

This has been acknowledged as a problem by PAM Engineering, but major code changes are required to fix it. A solution is expected to be included in an upcoming maintenance release, possibly in late 2022 or in 2023. It will NOT be included in 4.1.1 or 4.0.4.
