Passwordless ssh works, but dr_validate fails

Issue/Introduction

We have set up and verified passwordless ssh between all nodes in the vertica cluster, as well as each node to itself.

But when we run the validate script, it fails on passwordless ssh

 

Environment

Release : 20.2, 21.2

Component : Performance Management Upgrades

Cause

Some sites run an identity access control suite called BoKS.

This suite installs its own sshd and uses the associated configs.

This tool can prevent the dr_validate.sh and dr_install.sh scripts from running.

Resolution

Temporarily disable BoKS and make sure the default sshd is running.

 

Please note : The BoKS sshd can also prevent vertica backups from running due to ssh issues.
