Using Modeling Gateway to migrate topology from different Spectrum versions we notice annotations are not being moved

Issue/Introduction

We are using the Modeling Gateway to migrate between our live Spectrum 10.4.0 systems and our newly deployed 21.2.8 system.

We notice that if we update our annotations with different background text, the new changes are not being moved over successfully and the new 21.2.8 system still shows the old annotations.  Other items such as moving models in the topology are showing up correctly, the issue is only with updated annotations.

Cause

Software bug in Modeling Gateway that when checking for annotations it does not read the current value which is why the same value is always present.

Resolution

Engineering found the issue with the annotations not being updated correctly, the code was checking the annotation value, but not the current value which was the reason why the updates were not being reflected in future imports.

This will be fixed in upcoming Spectrum 22.2.3 with an estimate of end of September, 2022 and can be tracked as DE539273.
