Output Management Web Viewer

Issue/Introduction

How to set up an audit log for CA Output Management Web Viewer 11.5.

The administrator can enable the logging of user activities such as email, print, save, export, view reports, annotations and logged in time of users to a comma separated value file. One line is written for each event. This gives the administrator knowledge of who is doing what and when in the Web Viewer system. This file can be imported to Microsoft Excel to create a spreadsheet.

Environment

Release: CA Output Management Web Viewer 11.5
Component: DVWEB

Resolution

To specify preferences

  1. Click File, Preferences in the AdmTool window.
  2. Click on the auditing tab
  3. Choose the event(s) you want to audit
  • Annotations (CA View only)
  • File Upload
  • Emailing a Documents
  • Exporting a Document
  • Printing a Document
  • Saving a Document
  • Viewing a Document
  • User Logged in Time
  • Edit User Comments in Report List (CA View only)

Each event generates a separate line in the audit report. The chosen event appears in the Action column.  The fields in the audit report are:

Date_Time  User ID User ID Remote User ID Generic User IP Address Folder Name Folder Connection Definition Report Identifier Action Starting Page Total Pages   Total Bytes Details Connection Duration

The output is written to a file in the %TEMP% directory called UOMWebViewerMMYY.csv, where MM is the month, and YY is the year. This file can be imported to MS Excel to create a spreadsheet. A new log file is started automatically each month.

Additional Information

See the topic System Preferences page 3-35 in the Administrator Guide to find out more details including the fields written for each event.

NOTE:  User auditing available on Web Viewer and SMF records on CA View are all that is available. There is no auditing of system administrator actions.
