Issue/Introduction

We need to map the Rally field “FormattedID” into Clarity for Epics, Capabilities, and Features. When we tried to do so, we received the following error: “No valid data type combination found for the selected fields”.

Here are the steps we took:

  1. Created a new attribute on the Investment object called “Rally Formatted ID”
    Type: String
    Attribute ID: hig_formattdid
    API Attribute ID: h_formattedid
  2. Ran the “Import Integration Mappings” job
  3. Tried to create the field mapping on Epic, Capability, and Feature
    Direction: Rally to Clarity
    Clarity Field: Rally Formatted ID
    Rally Field: Formatted ID
    Sync Option: Create and Update

Result: Received Error - “No valid data type combination found for the selected fields”.

Environment

Release : 16.0.1

Component : Clarity Add-Ins (PMO, Rally)

Resolution

In Clarity 16.0.1, you could map Formatted ID to a number field in Clarity. However, if you ran the Synchronized Mapped Information job, these fields would not be synchronized since the Formatted ID in Rally includes alphanumeric data and you may receive an error: “No valid data type combination found for the selected fields”.

In Clarity 16.0.2, here are the requirements to map Rally's Formatted ID field to a string field in Clarity, Synchronize Rally's Formatted ID in Clarity.

Please note: After you upgrade to 16.0.2, you need to run the Import Integration Mapping job. Clarity will delete that mapping if Clarity detects an existing mapping for the Formatted ID field (number to number mapping).

You can then create a new mapping and map the Formatted ID field in Rally to a String field in Clarity.
