Vertica DB appears to have stopped

Issue/Introduction

I'm unable to access the admintools or vsql on the db cluster

"input/output error" when trying to cat a file

 

/data has been marked as read-only file system.

cd /data

touch test.txt fails with read-only error

 

Environment

Release : All Supported Versions

Component : Vertica

Cause

SAN file system has been marked as "Read Only"

if you try to create a file on the file system you see the message that the file system is read only

Resolution

Resolve the file system issue.

Can try a reboot, or remount of the FS.

Or contact your system admin.

Additional Information

once the file system is fixed, use adminTools to restart vertica.
