Resolution

Broadcom recommends installing multiple Internet Gateways to service Cloud-Enabled Management (CEM) agents for the following reasons:

  1. In the event that one of your Internet Gateways becomes unavailable, your CEM agents will be able to connect to another Gateway.
  2. Reduces the risk of outages when replacing/renewing the Gateway certificate.

It is not necessary to install a Load Balancer in front of the Internet Gateways. The agents are designed to balance the load. However, we do support the F5 Load Balancer.

Please see the following documents:

How does the CEM client determine which Internet Gateway server to connect to?

How to configure F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager to work with the ITMS Cloud-enabled Management traffic?
