Uprocs fail with Could not Submit on a VMS node during several hours

Issue/Introduction

Suddenly, during a couple of hours, a lot of scheduled jobs go from Pending Status to Aborted with the icon "Could not Submit" as below.

There are no error messages in the universe.log and about the cause, neither on the System Logs or the history trace of the jobs.

 

When we relaunch the aborted jobs, after the issue is gone, the jobs complete succesfully.

Environment

Release : 6.x

Component : DOLLAR UNIVERSE

OS: VMS Itanium

Cause

Unknown: most likely a VMS system related issue as the issue was completely fixed after a system reboot.

Resolution

Workaround:

Stop the node, perform an offline reorganization, start the node again and relaunch the previously Aborted Jobs.

Solution:

Restarting the VMS server allowed the issue to not reproduce again.
