Error: 'findstr' is not recognized as an internal in AdminUI

Issue/Introduction

 

When starting an AdminUI, this one doesn't start and it reports an error in a pop-up:

  Windows could not start the SiteMinder Administrative UI on local
  Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this
  is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to
  service-specific error code 255.

The AdminUI logs report only these lines:

  2022-07-18 16:13:20 Commons Daemon procrun stderr initialized
  'findstr' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
  operable program or batch file.

When trying to start by the command line, it reports that the findstr command is missing:

  C:\Program Files\CA\SiteMinder\adminui\bin>findstr
  'findstr' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

 

Environment

 

  AdminUI 12.8SP6a on Windows 2019;

 

Resolution

• Add the following to the PATH environment variable for Windows:

         %SystemRoot%\system32

         or

         C:\WINDOWS\system32

         and restart the machine to solve this issue;
