An XPJOB gets queue status of N-FAIL.
When CA 7 submits an XPJOB, it builds a record called an AJB and does a CCI send function to send the request to the SUBMITC SERVER at the specified node. If the CCI send function fails, CA 7 will requeue the job back to the request queue and it will have a status of N-FAIL. The most common reason for the send function to fail is because the remote node is not connected to system where CA 7 is running or the Workload Agent is not running on the target node causing the SUBMITC SERVER not to be found.
In the CA 7 initialization file, the XPDEF keyword has a XPRETRY parameter and this parm can be set to allow CA 7 to automatically resubmit the job with N-FAIL status. So once the target system is connected and the SUBMITC SERVER is available, the job will be resubmitted without manual intervention.
