Issue/Introduction

During upgrade of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), or when running the Management Server Configuration Wizard (MSCW) you get an error that there is not enough free disk space to copy to the SEPM's data folder.

Example:

Failed to copy data to folder F:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data, not enough free disk space.

Cause

During an upgrade or reconfiguration of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, the data directory is copied. However, if the size of contents in the data directory is larger than available free space on the drive it will result in an error.

Resolution

Check and resolve each of the following, as needed:

  • Ensure there is enough free space on the drive hosting the SEPM's data folder
  • Look in the ...Manager\data\inbox folders for an accumulation of files ending in .ERR and delete these to free up space
  • Look in the ...Manager\data\backup folder and review the size of the stored database backups. These may be moved temporarily to a location outside of the SEPM folder structure to allow the upgrade or MSCW to complete, then moved back to the original SEPM folder
